Excited with Exploring

Okay, I am THRILLED with the newest website I just found for WOW users. Thottbot.com is what I've been searching for. If you're a new WOW user, and you keep getting stuck on certain quests or areas, GO TO THOTTBOT ! It works as a search engine and once you type in your keyword, links connected to that pop up for the choosing. It has pictures, and maps, and tips for how to get un-stuck in any journey. It's very thorough, and I have yet to get stuck on something that Thottbot can't un-stick me from. It's not at all like the blogs I've been reading, which is one person giving their opinion on matters and normally using a lot of fancy language that is overwhelming and difficult. Thottbot seems to be a whole organization, with a lot of different answers for your problems. It's comprehensive and impressive.
My newest thrill within the game is exploring. I know it takes time, and may seem tedious, but once you uncover every covered section on the map you not only get an achievement, and therefore exp points, but its ten times easier to go on every quest! One of the hardest things for me in the beginning was accepting a quest and then attempting to find the place where the quest actually was. I would always get turned around and forget which direction I had come from, etc, etc. Once I explored all of Dun Morogh, which isn't as big as it seemed at first, I had a way better understanding of where everything was placed, and if I got confused I could just click the M button for the map! It had everything listed there now that I discovered it, and I had no worries about getting lost. So after a few quests, if you feel like you're stuck and need a quick change, go exploring! It's actually a bit exciting when you try it.

Startled at Starting

Okay, what's with all these guides having no sympathies for beginners? Every blog I looked at jumped right into explaining macros or how to join a group that's level 10 and up. What about getting to level 10? I made the mistake of trying to get some helpful hints at beginning before I started actually playing, and the texts out there overwhelmed me WAY more than the actual game. If you start the game and just toil around for a while, you can figure the basics out pretty well, but if you look for others to help you'll feel like you're in way over your head. WOW gamers seem like a culture of their own- they use their own language, with no explanation to us newbies and it's enough to make a person want to quit before they start. I mean, I've played video games before, but this is an entirely different world. I felt like I was setting out to learn a new language, with an entirely new alphabet, and I wasn't prepared for the vastness of it. Why can't their be a step by step video on youtube that simply shows you how to attack? Or how to level up? Or how to know which world to pick, which character, and which race. Here's my advice for newbies- just try playing the game for a while, and use your own smarts to proceed. Once it starts to feel a little monotonous (okay, i'm level five, how many more boars do I have to kill?) go look around for texts to make the experience a little more interesting. But I urge you to wait a little, and have a little faith in yourself, before turning to the fellow bloggers for help.
